A difficult afternoon on the diamond saw Douglas baseball suffer its first loss of the young season, falling 12-2 to visiting Centennial in non-league action Friday at home.

The Trojans, who had opened the 2026 campaign with two consecutive victories, struggled to contain Centennial's offensive attack throughout the contest. Despite the lopsided final score, Douglas managed to plate two runs against a tough Eagles squad that proved why they're considered one of the top programs in the Portland metro area.

The loss drops Douglas to 2-1 overall as the team continues to work through early-season adjustments. With league play still ahead, head coach and his staff will have plenty of opportunities to address the issues that surfaced against Centennial's experienced lineup.

Friday's result serves as a valuable learning experience for a Douglas squad that showed promise in its first two outings. The Trojans will look to bounce back quickly as they prepare for upcoming league competition, where games against familiar Far West League opponents await.
