Douglas Trojans Softball 17-19 Rogue River

Offense came in bunches Thursday afternoon, but Douglas softball couldn't quite keep pace in a wild 19-17 loss to visiting Rogue River at home. The Trojans put up 17 runs in what became an instant classic of back-and-forth softball, with both teams combining for 36 runs in a non-league thriller that kept fans on their feet throughout.
Douglas showed tremendous fight in the high-scoring affair, matching Rogue River nearly run for run in a game that featured multiple lead changes and clutch hitting from both sides. The 17 runs represented one of the highest offensive outputs in recent memory for the Trojans, who demonstrated their ability to compete with quality opponents even in defeat.
The loss drops Douglas to 1-1 on the young season, but the offensive explosion provides plenty of encouragement moving forward. Games like this often serve as catalysts for teams finding their identity, and the Trojans proved they can swing the bats with anyone. Douglas will look to carry this offensive momentum into their next outing as league play approaches.
