Yoncalla Eagles Softball 3-8 Sweet Home

Monday's home opener brought more frustration for the Yoncalla softball team as Sweet Home pulled away for an 8-3 non-league victory at Eagle Field. The loss extends Yoncalla's winless streak to start the 2026 spring season.

The Eagles showed signs of offensive life against the Huskies, managing their second-highest scoring output of the young campaign. However, Sweet Home's consistent pressure proved too much to overcome as they built a comfortable lead through the middle innings.

Yoncalla has now been outscored 52-9 through six games, highlighting the growing pains facing this young roster. Despite the challenging start, the Eagles demonstrated improved plate discipline and made several defensive plays that showed promise for the weeks ahead.

The Eagles will look to break through for their first victory when they host Oakland on Thursday afternoon. With league play approaching in mid-April, Yoncalla hopes these early-season battles against quality opponents will prepare them for the competitive Canyonville Conference schedule that lies ahead.
